What does a person's accent say about them? Does one accent fare better than others?

Yep.

Are Wyomingites going to be happy about where the Mountain West accent sits on the list of most trustworthy accents?

Nope.

According to research done by BetUS.com, the Mountain West accent is the least trustworthy in the country. In total, the US is divided into 14 distinct accent regions. Each region was assigned an overall score, calculated by considering internet searches for friendliness and professional accent, the number of financial crimes per 10k people, the number of lawyers per region, and the number of doctors per region.

Here's the breakdown of the 14 accents ranked from most trustworthy to least trustworthy.

  1. Boston
  2. Cajun
  3. Philadelphia
  4. California
  5. New York
  6. Texas
  7. Alaskan
  8. Southwestern
  9. Florida
  10. Midwestern
  11. Hawaiian
  12. Southern
  13. New Jersey
  14. Mountain West

Honestly, according to the data, it's not even close. The Mountain West accent only has a grade of 16.7, meaning every other accent SOUNDS more trustworthy than here.

I think Wyoming is getting the short end of the straw here, because when the Mountain West is being used, Wyoming is being lumped in with people from Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, and Washington.

Personally, I would trust someone with a Wyoming accent way more than I would a person with a New York, California, or Boston accent.

It's not a bad thing that people outside this region feel this way. It's just another factor that people may consider when deciding not to move here.
