A new Natrona County School District trustee was appointed on Monday.

After interviewing four candidates, current trustees selected a former trustee to fill a seat left vacant by Audrey Cotherman. Dr. Dave Driggers will rejoin the board in January of next year.

Board member Rita Walsh says trustees were impressed with Driggers' phone interview prior to Monday's regular meeting.

“It’ll be a seamless transition from him, he appeared very thoughtful and deliberate, and he’s very knowledgeable of the time requirements (and) knowledgeable, I guess I would say, about the bond issue (and) the immersion programs before us,” Walsh said.

Cotherman tendered her resignation last month. Driggers will serve the remaining year of Cotherman’s term.

Walsh says Driggers was first appointed to the board in the 1990s and left to begin a private medical practice. Driggers has since retired from that private practice.
