CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Authorities in Cheyenne are investigating the death of a high school student whose body was found on school grounds.

Laramie County School District 1 Superintendent Mark Stock said the body of a female student was found Thursday morning by a school employee behind Cheyenne East High School near a back parking lot.

Students were dismissed early but the school is back open Friday.

Authorities haven't released the student's name yet. An autopsy was planned Friday.

Sgt. Rob Dafoe of the Cheyenne Police Department said police are treating the death as suspicious for now while the investigation is conducted. He said the student wasn't in classes Thursday and her death isn't associated with any school-related activity.
