A Casper woman has admitted that she stabbed her boyfriend.

Cathy Long has pleaded guilty to one charge of aggravated assault and battery.

Investigators with the Casper Police Department say in July 2014, Long stabbed her boyfriend in the chest with a knife.

The boyfriend said it was the result of a psychotic episode and the police reported she was not completely coherent during questioning.

The stabbing came after an argument over the death of one of his friends.

It culminated with her allegedly following him outside with a knife and plunging it into his chest.

The wound was about an inch deep and was not serious.

As part of a plea deal, prosecutors will seek no more than an 18-to-36 month prison sentence.

Long is being held on $5,000 bond, and will be sentenced at a later date.
