Casper Police Arrest 3 After East Side Car Chase
Three people were arrested Saturday night after police responded to a report of a two-vehicle chase and ultimately found methamphetamine in the possession of two of the people involved.
Andrew George Berg, 41, was booked into jail on recommended charges of driving with a suspended license, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
Daniel Kenneth Wylie, 36, was booked on recommended charges of driving with a suspended license, two counts of wrongful taking or disposing of property, interference with a police officer and possession of methamphetamine.
Alysha Dahl, 26, was booked on recommended charges of felony meth possession and possession of marijuana. All three will likely make their initial appearances in Natrona County Circuit Court at 2 p.m. Monday.
According to police affidavits, officers responded to the area of Second Street near Albertsons at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday after dispatch received reports of a Subaru Legacy and a Jeep chasing each other through parking lots, headed westbound on Second Street.
Reports indicated that the Jeep was trying to ram the Subaru, and had already hit the Subaru once.
The first officer to arrive in the area stopped the Jeep after it sped across traffic and into the west entrance of Albertsons. Berg, who had been driving the Jeep, got out and started to charge at the officer as he exited his patrol car.
The officer gave commands for Berg to stop, and Berg ultimately complied.
Wylie and Dahl each exited the Subaru. Wylie got out first and tried to walk into the Albertsons store, but the officer told him to stop.
Then Dahl got out of the Subaru's front passenger seat with a backpack and tried to take off, running around the corner cement post. The officer told her to stop, so Dahl stopped and hid from the officer.
When the officer rounded the corner, Dahl was allegedly trying to bury something in her backpack. Dahl and Wylie were both nervous and did not comply with commands, police say.
Four witnesses told police that the Jeep had been traveling at 45-50 mph through the Ridley's parking lot, chasing and trying to ram the white Subaru.
Berg reportedly drove the Jeep at roughly 45 mph through a crowded parking lot, jumped a parking median and rammed the Subaru. The chase was reportedly seen all over east Casper, starting in the Eastridge Mall parking lot and heading west through major parking lots such as Ridley's, Sportsman's Warehouse, Kmart and Albertsons.
Wylie allegedly identified himself as another person, giving the other person's drivers license, passport and Social Security card to an officer.
The white Subaru which Wylie had been driving had been reported as stolen.
Wylie denied having stolen the Subaru. He reportedly told police that a drug dealer who lived at Casper Village had been telling people over social media that Wylie had stolen his vehicle, and Wylie had been driving the Subaru to that person's residence to confront them.
Inside of a silver flashlight which Wylie had on his person when he was arrested, police found about 1.5 grams of meth.
Inside Dahl's backpack, police found methamphetamine in multiple containers as well as a small amount of marijuana. She told police that she had been using methamphetamine since she was 11 years old, but had been clean for the past month.
Dahl told police that Wylie was driving the white Subaru and picked her up at 11 a.m. Wylie drove her over to the Casper Village apartment complex to visit Dahl's friend.
As they tried to find a parking spot, Dahl said, they noticed a grey Jeep following them. Wylie drove off at a high rate of speed to get away from the Jeep, but the Jeep gave chase. Dahl said that the chase approached speeds of 80 mph at one point.
