Casper Pinwheel Garden Planned For Child Abuse Prevention Month
A colorful pinwheel is usually a reminder of happy childhood days, but a special display of the spinning toys is intended to serve as a powerful reminder of young ones whose childhood was stolen from them by abuse. The Children's Advocacy Project (CAP) is inviting the public to help them plant a pinwheel garden in an effort to raise awareness about child abuse during Child Abuse Prevention Month.
There will be three hundred and seven pinwheels, one for every child victim of abuse and maltreatment CAP served in 2016. Organizers say they hope the pinwheel garden will serve as a visual reminder of the continued abuse suffered by children in our own community.
The event will be held on April 19th, at the CAP building at 350 N. Ash Street in Casper. It starts at 4:00 p.m. If you can't attend, you are encouraged to plant a pinwheel in front of your home or business to honor these children, or those who helped you, or your children, experience a childhood free of abuse and neglect.
