Casper Man Pleads Guilty To Child Pornography Charge
Casper resident Rick William Olsen pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography in federal court in Casper on Tuesday.
A second count of transportation of child pornography will be dismissed at his sentencing by U.S. District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl scheduled for Oct. 25.
Olsen could face up to 20 years imprisonment.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested Olsen in May. A federal grand jury indicted him in July.
The FBI’s Violent Crimes Against Children Intelligence Unit, working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, had received multiple reports about him, according to the affidavit accompanying the criminal complaint filed in May..
Olsen, also known as Rico Suave, was living at a residence on South Socony Place, “and was very likely involved in the distribution, transmission, receipt, and /or possession of child pornography,” according to the affidavit.
During the serving of a search warrant, Olsen gave an agent his cell phone in which he kept digital images of child pornography, and to send images to others.
An agent with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation later found images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The government regards child pornography as a crime of violence because it involves sometimes brutal assaults on children who cannot give consent to sexual activity.
