Casper Church to Hold Vigil for Las Vegas Following Mass Shooting
Members of the Casper community plan to join together Monday evening in a vigil following Sunday's tragic mass shooting at a concert in Las Vegas.
The shooting, allegedly perpetrated by Stephen Paddock, killed at least 58 people and left some 500 wounded. It is the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history.
In light of the tragedy, The United Church of Christ in Casper will host a vigil from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Here's what the organizers had to say in their Facebook event:
Join us this evening for some time to reflect, pray, meditate or whatever fits your personal beliefs, for the victims, their family and friends, and the entire community of Las Vegas. And of course all of the countless victims of senseless violence. . . . No Preaching, but hopefully some words of comfort and time for silence . . together. . . in community. No matter where you come from politically, religiously or otherwise, you are welcome to come in Peace . . .
The United Church of Christ is located at 1511 S. Melrose S. in Casper.
