Carter Young, a senior at Kelly Walsh High School, has accepted a scholarship to play D1 baseball at Grand Canyon University from the Western Athletic Conference in the fall.

Carter has been playing baseball since about the time he could walk, trying to keep up with his brothers.  He played for the Casper Oilers the last 4 years, and was the starting shortstop in that time frame, transitioning to the pitcher's mound this last year.  Young was named to the All-State team for

the last 3 years and was the Wyoming Pitcher of the year in 2018. He will be playing with the Casper Horseheads this summer before leaving for college.

The other schools he was recruited by were Oregon State, University of Utah, University of Northern Colorado, Cal Poly, Montana State Billings and Central Arizona.

Grand Canyon University won the WAC 2018 and took 2nd In the WAC 2019.
