Carbon County searchers found the body of a man who went missing after his truck caught fire near Baggs.

On Nov. 25, the Colorado State Patrol contacted the Carbon County Sheriff's Office and reported that they were notified of a crash and a vehicle catching fire on Highway 70.

Gerry Slusher, a 52-year-old The Colony, Texas resident, told authorities that his vehicle caught fire and he walked away from it before getting lost.

Not long after, searchers set up a command post near Savery and the Baggs Search and Rescue team commenced a search. Slusher reportedly provided searchers with several different GPS coordinates.

According to a press release, the search continued into Nov. 26. Slusher's body was found at roughly 10:30 a.m. in a deep ravine a mile and a half from his vehicle.

A coroner's preliminary investigation determined that Slusher died from exposure. A toxicology report is pending.
