Several city-based organizations are planning to honor the memory of fallen 9/11 heroes with a special blood drive.

Serve Wyoming, AARP Wyoming and United Blood Services will hold its annual “Honoring our Fallen Heroes” blood drive on Wednesday.

The blood drive has been an annual event in Casper since 2008. However, Jessica Stanbury, a representative with Serve Wyoming, said “Honoring Our Fallen Heroes,” has a longer history.

“‘Honoring Our Fallen Heroes’ has been a day of service drive since 2002, when the families of all the heroes of 9/11 decided to have a day of service to remember the remarkable way so many people rose up in unity and service,” Stanbury said.

The blood drive will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the United Blood Services facility at the corner of East Second Street and Country Club Road.

AARP Wyoming will provide miniature American flags to blood donors. They request that donors plant the flags at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville after giving blood.
