Counterfeit Merchandise Seized At Casper Store
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Authorities say they have seized nearly $35,000 worth of counterfeit sporting goods from a Casper store.
The Associated Press reported Saturday that the Cheyenne branch of Homeland Security Investigations recently seized 663 items as part of a nationwide initiative to combat the sale of counterfeit merchandise. The name of the business was not released.
Carl Rusnok, a spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, says the items included counterfeit NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA and Major League Baseball jerseys and caps. He says no arrests are expected in Casper and that sometimes retailers are not charged because they don't realize the merchandise is fake.
The investigation, dubbed "Operation Red Zone," began in September and wrapped up Wednesday.
