Cheyenne police are urging drivers to stay off the streets after two patrol cars were hit Wednesday.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says the crashes occurred while police were responding to vehicles that people had abandoned in the blizzard.

Luckily, no one was injured, but Malatesta says "it highlights why people shouldn't be on the roads."

As of 5:34 p.m., police had responded to more than 20 stranded vehicles and seven crashes.

Malatesta says because it's careless to be driving in these conditions, officers may write tickets to those who they encounter on the streets.
