A former employee of a Casper car dealership will avoid jail time, after admitting that he took money from the business.

Scott Middleton was given a three-to-five year suspended prison sentence, with three years of probation, after pleading guilty to one charge of larceny by bailee.

Investigators say in April of 2013, Middleton was the financial manager at White’s Mountain Chevrolet, where he took an $8,000 down payment from a customer, but never turned it in.

Prosecutors say he later told police that he had spent it and was also bouncing checks to prepare for his wedding.

Middleton has also been ordered to pay restitution.
