A former employee of a Casper car dealership has denied in court that he took money from the business.

Scott Middleton has pleaded not guilty to one charge of larceny by bailee.

Investigators say in mid-April, Middleton was the Financial Manager at White's Mountain Chevrolet, where he took an $8,000 down payment from a customer but never turned it in.

Prosecutors say he later told police that he had spent it and was also bouncing checks to prepare for his wedding.

Middleton is free on $5,000 bond awaiting trial and could face up to 10 years in prison, if convicted.
