Wyoming Women’s Antelope Hunt Seeks 80 Licenses
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A bill that would provide 80 pronghorn antelope hunting licenses to a special women's hunt in northeast Wyoming has passed the state Legislature.
Senate File 3 was approved Monday on a 45-13 vote. The bill has already passed the Senate and now goes to Gov. Matt Mead for his approval.
Under the legislation, the Wyoming Women's Antelope Hunt would receive 80 licenses for its event held annually near Ucross. That would give it the same number of antelope licenses that the state has provided to the long-held One Shot Antelope Hunt in Lander, which chiefly involves male hunters.
The women's hunt started in 2013 as a way to bring more women into the sport with an emphasis on mentorship and raise money for the Wyoming Women's Foundation.
