Wyoming State Capitol Dome to Undergo Repairs
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Capitol dome in Cheyenne will be covered up until mid-2019 while workers do renovation work.
Workers over the next week will begin installing scaffolding and a white scaffold that will cover the entire dome.
The scaffolding installation will take between eight and 10 weeks.
Workers will then begin repairing punctures, tears, dents, failed seams, corrosion, paint, water leaks and other damage that has occurred over the last 129 years since the Capitol was built.
Without the repairs, officials say the life expectancy of the dome would be only another 15 years.
The repairs will extend the life expectancy of the dome by over 75 years.
