Someone is contacting Wyoming residents and telling them they are eligible for block grants if they supply some personal information, according to a release from the Wyoming Department of Health.

The con artists claim to represent the Community Services Block Grant Program (CSBG). That is a real federal program, but the scammers are not affiliated with it and are using it as a way to obtain personal information from victims. Money from the program is never awarded to individual people.

In Wyoming so far the scammers are contacting people on social media, pretending to be trusted Facebook friends who are well-known to the victim.

But in other parts of the country scammers are using a similar approach using phone calls.
