‘Wings of Freedom’ Tour In Casper
A group dedicated to preserving the history of aviation is in Casper this week, providing area residents an opportunity to experience what it was like to fly in WWII aircraft.
The Collings Foundation has flown three vintage warbirds to Casper, a Boeing B-17 bomber, a B-24 Bomber and a P-51 fighter. It’s part of the organization’s Wings of Freedom Tour across the country. To raise money for the foundation, walk-through tours can be purchased, and you can also buy half-hour rides in the bombers, or instruction in the P-51.
During the bomber rides, passengers can walk through the aircraft to the various crew positions, including the radio room, bomb bay, gunner positions and bombardier. The aircraft are based at Good’s Warbirds at Casper/Natrona County International Airport. Rides will be offered through Friday.
