LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming's Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center has been recognized for its environmental and user-conscious building features.

The center was recently awarded the LEED Gold certification, which recognizes buildings for their environmentally friendly design, construction and operation.

The Berry Center is unique on the UW campus for its roof, which has native prairie plants.

In addition, the center also showcases sustainable features that include locally sourced building materials, natural air ventilation, native or adapted landscape vegetation and building exhaust energy recovery.

It is located on the northwest corner of the UW campus and houses multiple groups and individuals that study plants, animals and other organisms and the ways in which they interact.
