Utah Woman’s Body Recovered From Flaming Gorge
The body of a 59-year-old Utah woman who died Saturday when her all-terrain vehicle fell through the ice on Flaming Gorge Reservoir has been recovered, according to a spokesman for the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department.
Dick Blust says Rebecca Weston of Plain City, Utah was part of a family group that was ice fishing in the Anvil Draw area south of Green River when the ATV she was a passenger on went through the ice.
Three other relatives who were also riding the vehicle were able to escape. Her family called the Sheriff's Department after the accident, but deputy sheriffs and other emergency responders had to put off a diving operation until Sunday because of darkness.
Divers from the Sweetwater Dive Team and the Green River Fire Department Ice Rescue Team went into the water at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
They found Weston's body a little after 1 p.m. in about 100 feet of water.
