The United States and European allies are stepping up sanctions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by adding measures directly targeting President Vladimir Putin and his top diplomat.

U.S. President Joe Biden has hit Russia with some of the broadest and toughest financial penalties that the world’s biggest economy can muster.

Congresswoman Cheney is focusing on the matter at hand, releasing a statement on her social media that condemns Putin and pleads with President Biden to issue sanctions on Russia and its leaders.

After Putin announced the launch of military operations against Ukraine, President Joe Biden promised the U.S. and allies will announce “further consequences” against Russia for its “needless act of aggression against Ukraine.”

It's part of a wider deal between the two U.S.-sanctioned nations.

Officials familiar with the matter say Pompeo had opposed extending the waivers.

The President also said he would ask NATO to become more involved in the Middle East.

But it does inch Tehran's program closer toward weapons-grade levels of nuclear material.

In 2015, Iran ended the rationing of fuel that had been in effect since 2007.

Dual-status technicians are active service members but are employed in civilian jobs.
