CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A recent study by the University of Wyoming says snowmobiling generates more than $175 million a year for the state economy.

The report says snowmobilers directly spend $147 million across the state, supporting the equivalent of 1,300 jobs and generating more than $7 million in annual state and local government revenue.

The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at UW prepared the study. It focuses on snowmobiling at the 12 trail systems and 2,000 miles of snowmobile trails managed by the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources.
