Shaka Turner Admits To Promoting Prostitution
A Seattle man is admitting his involvement in the sex trade in Casper.
Thirty-four year old Shaka Turner has pleaded guilty to one felony count of promoting prostitution.
Casper police say in late July, undercover agents arranged a meeting through a website with 18 year old Jennifer Varga from Oregon.
When agents arrived at the hotel, Turner was inside the lobby and prosecutors say he overheard an employee say an officer needed a room key.
Turner then fled, but was later found and arrested.
Officers arrested Varga inside a hotel room and confiscated her phone, which had numberous missed calls from one number, which turned out to be Turner’s.
As part of a plea deal, prosecutors will not seek a prison sentence against Turner.
Instead, they will seek first time offender status, meaning if Turner completes a term of probation the charge will be cleared from his record.
Turner is free on a $25,000 personal recognizance bond and will be sentenced at a later date.
