Search Underway in Colorado for Missing Hiker

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A search has been underway since Sunday for a missing 20-year-old hiker on Mount Herman near Colorado Springs.

Kevin Rudnicki went for a hike on Sunday morning but didn't return as expected later that day. He was last seen at 8:45 a.m. Sunday.

Searchers failed to find him Monday and Tuesday.

El Paso County Sheriff's spokeswoman Jacqueline Kirby says dangerous terrain and cold weather has hampered the search.

Another challenge for searchers are the many trails, both established and unmarked, in the area.

Rudnicki is a junior at the University of Wyoming where he is studying watershed management and wants to work for the U.S. Forest Service after graduation.
