Powell Man Allegedly Shot Wife Because Of Her Mental Health
A Powell man told Park County Sheriff's officials he shot his wife because her mental health was deteriorating and she tried to shoot him the day before.
They said 64-year-old David Williamson admitted he shot 65-year-old Shirley Williamson early Saturday.
David Williamson called 911. Officials arrived at his residence to find him on his porch and Shirley Williamson dead in a bedroom.
Williamson allegedly told investigators his wife's mental state had been deteriorating. Shirley Williamson also was blind.
David Williamson also allegedly told investigators she had been hearing voices. He said he took her to a hospital Friday night, and later she tried to shoot him with an unloaded gun.
Williamson is charged with second-degree murder. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years of imprisonment.
A judge set his bond at $700,000. He remained in custody Tuesday and didn't have an attorney yet.
