A former apartment manager has admitted taking rent money from her tenants for her personal use.

Kitty Cornell has pleaded guilty to one charge of felony larceny by bailee.

During a court appearance on Thursday, January 31st, she admitted that from August 2011 through April of 2012, she was taking rent money from tenants at the Village Gardens Apartments, because she had a gambling problem.

When the management group of the apartments called to have certain tenants evicted for being behind on their rent, Cornell confessed to her deed.

In all, she admitted taking more than $22,000...most of which was used at casinos in Las Vegas, Deadwood and Riverton.

As part of a plea deal, prosecutors will not seek a prison sentence, but time in the county jail is possible.

She will also have to pay restitution to the apartment management group.
