A Casper man will avoid prison after admitting he had inappropriate images of children on his computer.

Jesse Carter was given a three-to-five year suspended prison sentence, with 10 years of probation, after he pleaded guilty to one charge of possession of child pornography.

In September and October of 2014, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a report from Microsoft, that someone had uploaded several child porn photos, and traced it to Carter's computer.

Law enforcement was contacted, who then in turn interviewed Carter in January, about his activities.

He told investigators he had one email account closed for suspicious activity, and said he had searched for child porn once because he was curious.

Investigators later searched an external hard drive belonging to Carter and found what they were looking for.
