Star Valley and Natrona tipped off the 4A West Conference basketball season on Friday night in Afton, which begins the long, grinding road to the Regional and State Tournaments. Both the boys and girls of each school were looking for some traction in the conference season.

In the boys' game, Natrona led by one point at halftime but Star Valley burst out of the locker room with a solid 3rd quarter to take a 9-point lead.  The Braves held on from there to win it 55-47 as Cooper Lancaster led the way with 17 points. He's an All-Conference selection from the 2023-24 season.  SV received 13 points from Dylan Shumway with Natrona getting 15 points from Tanner Hagar and Cooper Rogers finished with a dozen.

Star Valley completed the weekend home stand with a 50-49 win over Kelly Walsh on Saturday thanks to a late 3-pointer from Shumway. KW had a shot go in and out at the buzzer so the Braves are 3-7 on the season. Natrona ended the long road trip with a 57-47 victory over Jackson. The Mustangs are 3-7 as well.
