The Casper Horseheads collegiate baseball team took 2 out of 3 to start the 2019 Expedition League season. The scheduled season opener vs. Western Nebraska at Lansing Field was postponed due to wet conditions. But the 2 teams did play on Saturday with the Horseheads losing 10-5. Gillette native Dillon Buckmeier drove in a run but Casper could get no closer than 6-5 after 5 innings. On Sunday, the Horseheads swept a doubleheader in Hastings, Nebraska. In game one, pitcher Nick Roach struck out 13 as Casper prevailed 5-4. In the nightcap, the Horseheads nearly blew an 8 run lead but came out on top 14-13. Jake Brown and Kyler Harris each drove in 3 runs. Casper is 2-1 and will be in Hastings on Wednesday and in Gering on Friday to meet Western Nebraska.
