Cheyenne Voters Overwhelmingly Reject City Administrator Ordinance

Cheyenne voters have decided to keep the city's government structure how it is.

A charter ordinance, which would have established the position of city administrator, failed by a margin of nearly 2-1 in Tuesday's special referendum election.

Results are still being finalized, but 10 out of 11 precincts report 4,508 (63.62%) voted against the ordinance and 2,578 (36.38%) voted for the ordinance.

Had voters backed the ordinance, the city council would have employed a city administrator to be in charge of day-to-day governing decisions, rather than the elected mayor.
