Cheyenne police are reminding drivers not to pass stopped school buses.

Sgt. John Gay says the Traffic Safety Unit has seen several violations near Goins Elementary School.

"When that bus has its flashing red lights on all the traffic has to stop," said Gay.

Gay says even if a bus is pulled over, it's illegal to pass it if there's no physical divider -- such as a raised median or concrete barrier -- between the bus and the road.

"If you elect not to stop, more than likely you will be receiving a ticket that could be in excess of $400," he said.
