Celebrate ‘Day Of The Dead’ At Casper’s Nicolaysen
Celebrate the traditional Mexican holiday "Day of the Dead" at the Nicolaysen Art Museum in Casper on November 2nd. According to the Nic, they've partnered with the Spanish Dual Language Immersion program at Park Elementary School for the event, which is sponsored by Casper College.
The days-long holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. You'll find traditional altars created by local schools, as well as a "community altar" with small clay skulls to upon which you can leave the names of your loved ones, or bring your own offerings to leave in tribute.
There will also be traditional Mexican food for purchase, free crafts for the kids in the Discovery Center, open mic performances by local students, and a Day of the Dead themed art show with works available for $250 or less.
Come as you are or in full costume and face paint to be a part of the Day of the Dead make-up contest, with both youth and adult categories.
