Fire officials expect to announce the cause of the Sheep Herder Hill Fire next week.

Officials with the Natrona County Fire Protection District and Natrona County Emergency Management say they’re still investigating the site of the blaze and are drafting the final report.

The Sheep Herder Hill Fire was contained on Sept. 16. It scorched over 15,500 acres and destroyed 37 homes. The fire also destroyed Ponderosa Park.

Fire officials estimate the cost of fighting the Sheep Herder Hill fire to be over $3.3 million.
