Casper Police Department Announces Biker Awareness Parade Route
To mark motorcycle awareness month and the "Look Twice, Safe a Life” campaign, the Casper Police Department and a local motorcycle organization have announced the route for the annual parade on Saturday, according to a news release.
The department and the American Bikers for Awareness, Training and Education [ABATE] of Central Wyoming said the parade will start at the east side Walmart, 4400 E. Second St., at noon, proceed west on East Second Street and end at Oil City Harley-Davidson, 830 N. Glenn Ave., about 12:45 p.m.
The Casper Police Department will provide route security and traffic control, including some blocked intersections.
Police Sgt. Jeff Bullard, who oversees the traffic division of the department, offers the following safety tips to car drivers:
- Always check your blind spots.
- Leave room between your car and a motorcyclist.
- Dim your headlights as you pass riders at night time.
- Always use your turn signals.
- Be cautious when taking left turns because riders can hide easily in your blind spots.
The police department urges the community to use caution around the parade route from 11:30 a.m and 1 p.m. Saturday, and to stay vigilant for motorcycles when traveling the roadways.
