WASHINGTON (AP) — A new study conducted for The Associated Press finds that uninsured Americans aren't scattered around the country. Instead, half of them live in just 116 of the nation's 3,143 counties.

Less than 60 days are left to enroll for insurance under President Barack Obama's health care law. The Obama administration is trying to find millions of customers who'll be needed to sustain new insurance markets.

The study's findings mean an outreach campaign targeted to select areas could pay off big.

That's not lost on the Obama administration, which has done its own geographic research. Officials say the pattern coincides with the AP's findings, and they're using the data to guide their final enrollment push.

The AP's research was conducted by the State Health Access Data Assistance Center at the University of Minnesota.
