CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — An Oregon woman has pleaded guilty to carjacking a man in western Wyoming last year. Jessica Fritts faces a 30-year prison sentence under the plea agreement with federal prosecutors. Police say Fritts and her husband Roy were found in August driving a van belonging to a California man found shot and wounded near Flaming Gorge Reservoir.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Crews have largely corralled two wildfires that have charred parts of Wyoming. Firefighters are mopping up after a blaze burning in Guernsey State Park while an 8,500-acre fire in northeast Albany County is now 100 percent contained. Investigators say the Guernsey State Park fire is human caused.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — As firefighters battle massive blazes in the West, U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell is renewing his call to restore forests to a more natural state. He says a combination of decades of vigorous fire suppression and the waning of the timber industry has left many forests subject to the kind of super-fires that are now regularly consuming hundreds of homes and millions of acres.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A Ten Sleep rancher has been fined $5,000 for helping out-of-state hunters use his family's tags to kill animals and take them home. The Associated Press reports Richard Carter Sr. was sentenced yesterday to four years of probation. He is banned from hunting for three years.
