The Wyoming Department of Transportation will install four new variable message boards along Interstate 25 near Casper next week.

“We’ll be installing these new signs on the north side and the east side of Casper on Interstate 25,” WYDOT spokesperson Jeff Goetz said. “One will take place on June 16th, that will be followed by one on the 17th of June, then the 18th and 19th.”

Goetz said the digital text signs are popular both in Wyoming and throughout the country, and provide useful information for Wyoming motorists.

“We can relay all sorts of messages – I mean, anything from an Amber Alert to reminding people to buckle their seat belts,” Goetz said. “But what they’re really for is to let drivers know of crashes (and) any sort of weather issues.”

During the installation process, Goetz said sections of I-25 will be shut down between 10 p.m. and midnight. The installation dates and locations are listed below.

  • Monday, June 16: Southbound I-25 at milepost 196.4 north of Bar Nunn
  • Tuesday, June 17: Northbound I-25 at milepost 196.4
  • Wednesday, June 18: Southbound I-25 at milepost 180.5 four miles east of Hat Six Road
  • Thursday, June 19: Northbound I-25 at milepost 180.5
