WATCH: Trucker Cited After Nearly Hitting Wyoming Trooper on I-80
The Wyoming Highway Patrol is once again reminding drivers to move over for stopped emergency vehicles after a trucker nearly hit a trooper on Interstate 80.
It happened around 6 p.m. last Wednesday, April 5, near the Uinta/Sweetwater County line.
According to a WHP Facebook post, two troopers were assisting a Wyoming Department of Transportation road repair crew with traffic control and were sitting in their vehicles with their lights on facing oncoming traffic, when the trooper positioned in front noticed a semi approaching him.
"As the (semi) got closer, the trooper noticed it was not moving over or slowing down," the post reads.
Thankfully, as the dashcam video below shows, the trooper had the presence of mind to back up and swing his vehicle off the interstate and the trucker swerved to the left, missing him by inches.
The patrol says the other trooper was able to pull the semi over and the trucker was cited for careless driving and violating the state's Move Over law.
