LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — A Wyoming lawmaker says four new dormitories at the University of Wyoming should be designed so that when they're seen from a plane, they spell out the letters U-W-Y-O.

The idea comes from Wyoming House Speaker Steve Harshman, who says he wants a design that's "very special."

Others aren't on board with the idea recently presented to a state committee.

State Sen. Chris Rothfuss, of Laramie, says he's not sure if he's a "big fan" of the design. Senate President Eli Bebout says the design could be unnecessarily expensive and wouldn't be appreciated at ground level.

University President Laurie Nichols says it's far too early in the process to consider building designs and the letter-shaped buildings don't reflect the needs of students.
