Iran nuclear deal

Hopes of quick progress were muted after a hard-line new government in Tehran led to a more than five-month hiatus in negotiations.

Top diplomats say further progress has been made at talks between Iran and global powers to try to negotiate and restore a landmark 2015 agreement to contain Iranian nuclear development that was later abandoned by the Trump administration.

One group that has been highly critical of the deal welcomed the new sanctions but said there should be no exceptions.
