Have you had trouble finding your favorite hummus this Thanksgiving holiday season? There is a very good reason for that and it actually reaches much farther then the Cowboy State.

Health Canada has recalled Sabra hummus products sold across the country due to listeria concerns. Although there haven't been any reports of the illness (yet), Sabra has voluntarily recalled most products with a best before date of January 23, 2017 or earlier as a safety precaution.

As Thanksgiving is the holiday best known for food, it would be wise to check your snack trays if hummus is on the menu.

Sabra CEO, Shali Shalit Shova released this statement:

Consumers with any product with a "Best Before" date up through January 23, 2017 are urged to discard it. Consumers can find code and "Best Before" date on the lid of each package.

If you have eaten the product and are worried about listeria, common symptoms include fever, headache, diarrhea, vomiting and muscle aches and in people with weakened immune systems can lead to more serious illnesses such as meningitis or blood infections. Contact your doctor, physician and/or seek hospital attention if there is ever any doubt.
