Patricia E. Sorenson, 1957-2013
Patricia E. Sorenson passed away February 16, 2013 at home surrounded by her family after a five year battle with cancer. She was 55. Patti was born August 30, 1957 in Granite City, II. to Pete and Ellen Condis. Funeral services will be February 23,2013 at 1:00 PM at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday February 22,2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00PM at Bustard's Funeral Home.
Patti lived in Maryville, II. with her parents, brother Pete and sister Susan until 1972. In 1972 they moved to Dubois, Wy. Patti graduated from Dubois High School in 1975. She then graduated from Casper College in 1977, majoring in music education. She attended one semester at the University of Wyoming before moving back to Dubois. She went to work for Dubois National Bank. In 1982 Patti met Mark Sorenson and they were married on June 19, 1982 at the Dubois Baptist Church. In 1983 they moved to Casper, Wy. They had a son, Bryan on December 21, 1983. They had a daughter, Heather, on March 17, 1987. In 1990 Patti went to work for the Natrona County School Employees Federal Credit Union. This credit union became Reliant Federal Credit Union. At the time of her death she was Senior Vice President of the credit union. She was very proud of her career and loved working with her fellow employees and their members.
A huge part of Patti's life was music, singing and playing the piano and organ. She sang and played at both the Maryville 1st Baptist Church and the Dubois Baptist Church. As a senior in high school she was one of 100 students selected to a national choir. They spent the summer of 1975 touring Europe giving concerts. The highlight of the tour was singing in front of the Pope in Vatican City. Patti also enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. The last few years of her life she and Mark were able to take their best vacation to St. Martin. Between treatments for cancer Patti, Mark, Bryan, Heather and her husband, and Patti's and Mark's three grandchildren were able to take a last family trip to Florida.
Patti is survived by her husband Mark, son, Bryan Sorenson, daughter, Heather(Dustin) Williams, sister, Susan (Jon) Hughes, brother, Pete Condis, granddaughters ,Lillian Sorenson, Shaylynne Sorenson and Khloe Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and a grandson Wyatt Williams. Patti was a person of great faith and her life was a reflection of that faith.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the Patricia Sorenson scholarship for music at Casper College that is managed by Reliant Federal Credit Union or a fund for youth activities at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
