Pancake Tuesday In Casper

Pancakes are associated with the day preceding Lent because they were a way to use up rich foods such as eggs, milk, and sugar, before the fasting season of the 40 days of Lent. The liturgical fasting emphasized eating plainer food and refraining from food that would give pleasure: In many cultures, this means no meat, dairy, or eggs.

To that end, a number of area churches have a pancake feast for this Shrove Tuesday.

St Marks Episcopal Church at 7th and Wolcott will be serving their traditional pancake supper from 5-7 pm. A free-will offering will benefit youth programs.

St Stephens Episcopal Church at 4700 S. Poplar will serve pancakes, eggs, meat and juice from 5:30-7 pm. A free will offering will be taken with all proceeds going to Mercer House.

United Church Of Christ at 1511 S Melrose will be doing sour dough and buttermilk pancakes and sausage. A 5$ charge is good for all you can eat and kids under 12 are free.

Also in Glenrock, Christ Episcopal Churchwill be serving pancakes, eggs, and sausage with a free will offering to be used for a building fund.
