At noon on the last day of each month, family and friends of any Wyoming War Veteran, that passed away during that month, are invited to attend a short military ceremony inside the Tom Walsh Chapel at the Wyoming Veterans Cemetery, just outside of Evansville.

Cecil Barnes is president of the Natrona County United Veterans Council.

He says this tradition has been going on for about one year, and it doesn't matter if the veteran was buried at the Veterans Cemetery or elsewhere.

"Sheridan, Gillette, the names that we read are all that they gather from around the state. A lot of them die around the state, don't get military rights and we try to cover up with this as they go along with it."

Barnes says about 70-to-90 recently deceased war veteran names are read each month.

If the last day of the month is on a Saturday or Sunday, the ceremony will be held on the Friday prior instead.
