A man has been arrested after causing a disturbance that caused several Casper schools to go into lockdown.

Eighteen-year-old Mykeal Nekut of Casper, has been charged with breach of peace and interference.

Police say on Tuesday morning April 2nd, a motorist passed by Nekut and a friend near Kelly Walsh High School, when Nekut showed the driver that he had a BB gun.

When Nekut was spotted by officers who wanted to question him.  He fled on foot, but was apprehended a short time later.

Nekut claimed the driver had made an obscene gesture towards him and he responded by displaying the weapon.

As to why he ran from officers, he said there was already a warrant out for his arrest and he did not want to be caught.

Three nearby schools went into lockdown for a short time as a precaution.

Nekut is being held on $1,000 bond awaiting trial.
