The "Home for the Holidays Adopt-a-thon",  this Saturday,  is Casper Metro Animal Control's biggest adoption event for the year.  Rick Sulzen is Metro director and he says its a big, worldwide event.

"Home for the holidays is something that all of the animal shelters and humane societies across the U.S. and around the world support.  This year they're trying to get 1.2 million animals adopted out."

Sulzen says Casper's  Metro Animal  Control  has participated for the last fifteen years.  He says, however,  if you want to adopt there are a couple prerequisites to eligibility.  "If your a renter we need landlord approval from your landlord stating that its ok to adopt from us.  If your already a pet owner you need to make sure that your pets are current on their rabies vaccinations and their metro license  in owner for us to adopt.  You have to be in compliance with all of the city and county ordinances."

Sulzen says refreshments will be served all day with door prizes hourly.  Adoption fees are reduced by $10 dollars on dogs and an additional $5 dollars on cats.

Metro Animal Control and Welfare is located at 2392 East Metro road.  The annual "Home 4 the Holidays Adopt-a-thon" is this Saturday,  December 4th, from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm.
