THE CASPER POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS TURNED OVER THE CASE OF A MAN SHOT BY AN OFFICER TUESDAY MORNING TO THE WYOMING DIVISION OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION .
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN A STATEMENT SAID THE INCIDENT STARTED AT 5:37 A.M. TUESDAY WHEN DISPATCH RECEIVED 911 CALLS ABOUT A MAN WHO POINTED A GUN AT PEOPLE ON GRANITE DRIVE IN EAST CASPER.
POLICE IMMEDIATELY RESPONDED, BUT THE SUSPECT FLED THE AREA IN A LATE-MODEL SPORTS CAR.
NINE MINUTES AFTER THE FIRST REPORT, OFFICERS SAW THE CAR, BUT THE DRIVER FLED AGAIN.
A HALF HOUR LATER, THE CAR WAS SEEN IN EVANSVILLE WHERE POLICE BEGAN TO CHASE IT AS IT RE-ENTERED CASPER, TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WESTBOUND EAST SECOND STREET TOWARD DOWNTOWN.
POLICE SUSPENDED THE CHASE BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER TO THE PUBLIC.
AT 6:31 A.M., AN OFF-DUTY NATRONA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTY REPORTED THE SUSPECT CAR WAS PARKED AT A STORE AT CY AVENUE AND KIT CARSON.
AN OFFICER IMMEDIATELY RESPONDED.
WHEN HE ARRIVED, HE CONTACTED THE SUSPECT WHO HAD A GUN AND SHOTS WERE EXCHANGED.
THE SUSPECT WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED AND MEDICAL PERSONNEL TRIED TO SAVE HIM, BUT HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.
NO OFFICERS WERE HURT DURING THE INCIDENT.
THE DCI WILL RELEASE THE RESULTS OF ITS INVESTIGATION TO THE NATRONA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE FOR FURTHER CONSIDERATION.
AUTHORITIES HAVE NOT IDENTIFIED THE MAN.

THE NATRONA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SAYS ITS INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN FORWARDED TO PROSECUTORS.
OFFICIALS DECLINED TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, CITING THE NATURE OF THE CRIME AND THE AGES OF THOSE INVOLVED.

JACKSON, WYO. (AP) - JACKSON POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AFTER AN OFF-DUTY OFFICER FROM COLORADO PULLED A GUN ON A TEENAGER WHO WAS RUNNING TO A BUS STOP.
THE JACKSON HOLE NEWS AND GUIDE REPORTS JACKSON POLICE ARE DETERMINING IF ANY CRIMINAL CHARGES ARE WARRANTED AGAINST THE 31-YEAR-OLD WOMAN AFTER SHE HELD THE 17-YEAR-OLD BOY ON THE GROUND AT GUNPOINT FRIDAY.
POLICE LT. ROGER SCHULTZ SAYS THE WOMAN BELIEVED A CRIME WAS TAKING PLACE AND INTERVENED. HE SAYS THE COLORADO WOMAN DID NOT HAVE AUTHORITY TO ACT AS AN OFFICER IN WYOMING UNLESS A FELONY WAS COMMITTED IN HER PRESENCE OR IF DEATH WAS LIKELY.
POLICE DID NOT RELEASE THE WOMAN'S NAME.
WHILE THE TEEN WAS WRONGLY STOPPED, HE WAS CITED FOR POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE.

A TEENAGER FROM TEXAS WAS KILLED IN AN ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLE CRASH IN NORTHWEST WYOMING.
PARK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICIALS SAY 14-YEAR-OLD MAXIMILLIAN FINNEY, OF THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS, CRASHED THE SIDE-BY-SIDE ATV IN CRANDALL ON SATURDAY. THE VEHICLE TIPPED OVER AND PINNED THE TEENAGER BENEATH IT AS HE WAS DRIVING BETWEEN TWO CABINS OWNED BY HIS FATHER.
THE CODY ENTERPRISE REPORTS FINNEY, WHO WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET, DIED AT THE SCENE.
INVESTIGATORS SAY HE WAS DRIVING TOO FAST ON THE GRAVEL ROAD AND BEGAN TO SLIDE WHEN HE CRESTED A HILL.
