Pokes in Search of Second Straight Win in The Pit

ALBUQUERQUE -- The Wyoming Cowboys hit the road for the first time in conference play to face the New Mexico Lobos in the The Pit on Saturday evening in an 8 p.m. start. The contest will be televised on CBS Sports Network with Alex Del Barrio on the call along with Pete Gillen.
Fans can listen to the contest, as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Keith Kelly will be on the call alongside Kevin McKinney.
About The Teams
Wyoming heads into the contest with an 8-6 overall record and a 1-0 mark in conference play after defeating San Jose State at the buzzer on Tuesday by a score of 75-73. The Pokes hit 23 free throws on 25 attempts on Tuesday and rank second in the conference shooting 75.7 percent from the line.
The Pokes are shooting 45.8 percent from the field with opponents shooting 44.2 percent. Wyoming is shooting 40.5 percent from behind the arc to rank first in the conference and eighth in the nation.
The Lobos head into the game receiving votes in both the Associated Press and Coaches polls. The Lobos are 12-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play falling on the road at No. 13 Colorado State on Tuesday by a score of 76-68. The Lobos feature on the top offenses in the MW at 83.4 points per game. UNM shoots 46.8 percent from the field. The Lobos are also one of the top rebounding teams in the nation at 40.5 per game.
About The Players
Wyoming is led by Sam Griffin at 18.6 points per game to rank second in the conference and No. 53 in the nation. He has scored 20 or more points in seven games including 23 against SJSU. Akuel Kot adds 15.7 points per game on the season to rank ninth in the MW. He has scored in double-figures in every game this season and 47-straight games in his career.
Mason Walters adds 12 points per game and 3.5 rebounds in four games on the season. Caden Powell leads the team grabbing 6.1 rebounds per game.
New Mexico is led in scoring by Jamal Mashburn Jr. at 17.3 points per game. Donovan Dent is one of the league’s top playmakers averaging 16.3 points per game along with 6.4 assists per game. Jaelen House adds 15.1 points per game and is shooting 41 percent from behind the arc.

The Cowboys trail the all-time series with the Lobos 72-78. The Pokes downed the Lobos in The pit last season by a score of 70-56, but fell in the MW tournament by a score of 87-76 in the final game of the season for the Brown and Gold.
