CHEYENNE—The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Wyoming Chapter will be honoring the Casper Housing Authority as an outstanding agency in an awards ceremony that is part of the association’s 2014 annual conference in Cheyenne at the Plains Hotel in Cheyenne, Wyoming from 11:30 to 1:00 on Thursday, September 25th.

The entire team of the Casper Housing Authority was nominated for the NASW Wyoming Agency of the Year Award.

Executive Director Kim Summerall-Wright, will be accepting the award on behalf of her team.

In part, the nomination statement read, "The current Casper Housing Authority staff assumed their roles approximately two years ago and were faced with the daunting task of learning everything there is to know about housing assistance programs in Wyoming and the very special needs of homeless persons everywhere. They have not only become experts, but have done so enthusiastically and professionally...The Casper Housing Authority has instituted creative, innovative and "outside the box" approaches to providing services that demonstrate genuine compassion and vision to assist homeless families in meaningful ways. ... We need more social services agencies and teams with the "can do!" attitude the Casper Housing Authority exemplifies!"

Kimberly Harper, Executive Director for the NASW Wyoming Chapter says, "It’s important that we pause every now and then to recognize and honor the great job social workers and organizations make every day to enhance the well-being of individuals, families and communities across Wyoming.”

The NASW Wyoming Chapter has 265 members across Wyoming and is part of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), in Washington, DC; the largest membership organization of professional social workers.
